Exile takes a hard look at Treasongate

The Bostonian Exile is my favorite right wing blogger. We're often - heck almost always - in disagreement but he's no ideologue and always makes a fair and thoughtful argument for his case. And he doesn't jump onto the echo chamber bandwagon, as evidenced by this post on Treasongate.

He's got a long way to go in terms of accepting the deceit of the president he supported, (I think that's the lawyer in him) but you can never accuse him of not having an open mind. I've been thinking lately it's too bad he wasn't nominated for the SCOTUS opening. He's a conservative I could have supported.

Regardless of the outcome legally, Bush and his administration will always be damaged goods in the ethics department.

Think Progress posted some timely quotes today to remind us what Bush promised to for the country:

"First, we must always maintain the highest ethical standards. We must always ask ourselves not only what is legal, but what is right. There is no goal of government worth accomplishing if it cannot be accomplished with integrity.

Second, I want us to set an example of humility. As you work for the federal government there is no excuse for arrogance, and there’s never a reason to show disrespect for others. A new tone in Washington must begin with decency and fairness. I want everyone who represents our government to be known for these values." 10/05/01

(Bostonian Exile for SCOTUS? That would make for interesting copy in the evening news!)

Well, all of sudden there's an opening on the SCOTUS. Maybe we should all write to Bush and suggest he consider our favortie nominee. What the heck, by the time they get to the confirmation hearings, you will have passed the bar Exile.
