Dump the DC Dems

The problem isn't that all Democrats have no ideas, it's as Molly Ivins puts it, the DC Establishment Dems are an embarassment and a bad joke. Read it all for yourself but here's a fair sample.
Mah fellow progressives, now is the time for all good men and women to come to the aid of the party. I don’t know about you, but I have had it with the D.C. Democrats, had it with the DLC Democrats, had it with every calculating, equivocating, triangulating, straddling, hair-splitting son of a bitch up there, and that includes Hillary Rodham Clinton.

[...]

Every Democrat I talk to is appalled at the sheer gutlessness and spinelessness of the Democratic performance. The party is still cringing at the thought of being called, ooh-ooh, “unpatriotic” by a bunch of rightwingers.

Take “unpatriotic” and shove it. How dare they do this to our country? “Unpatriotic”? These people have ruined the American military! Not to mention the economy, the middle class, and our reputation in the world. Everything they touch turns to dirt, including Medicare prescription drugs and hurricane relief.

This is not a time for a candidate who will offend no one; it is time for a candidate who takes clear stands and kicks ass.

[...]

So let’s go find a good candidate early and organize the shit out of our side.
You tell 'em Molly. She's the very definition of a Libbytarian and she sure speaks for me.

I've been saying this for sometime, often to the shagrin of fellow progressives. it's true though, we need to clean house. There are so many bright, energetic people out there ready to run, we need to support them. Also many of them are returning war vets, and have a real message when it comes to Bush's war of choice.

I completely agree Libby. I've also experienced the defensiveness that can come from some Democrats at the first criticism of the Party; and they can get quite nasty too. So much so that I can't help but see some of the "my party good or bad" protectionism so prevalent in the Republican party beginning to appear.

It's great that people are so passionate about their political parties, but we shouldn't forget that it is a means to an end rather than an end in itself. And when that means begins to fail it's time to start looking at your options.

I've had it myself. I've been voting for the good of the party for the last three elections and where has it got us? Nowhere. They think their symbolic vote against Alito is going to carry them through voting for the Patriot Act and caving on the NSA scandal and every other sellout is going to get my vote they can forget it. Let the f'ing GOP have it again. What's the difference?

I've had it with triangulation and reaching out to damned mythical centrists. As far as I'm concerned we need a clean sweep. We need more parties.
