Everybody's a critic

How about that? Should I be insulted or flattered? I've been dissed by the Colombia Journalism Review. Felix Gillette links to my post on Sludge from Drudge and has this to say.
Given that kind of bile, we hesitate to imagine what wrath Bush might have wrought had he reversed course and bashed bloggery (as it's fondly referred to here at CJR Daily World Headquarters).
If the kid considers that bile, he must lead a very sheltered life, probably living off some trust fund.

If you read the CJR link you'll notice the favorable quotes all come from the pajamadeen who appear to have made a pact with the administration. And one wonders what kind of education they're receiving at Colombia these days. Apparently Felix's reading comprehension isn't that great either.

Drudge's sludge did bash bloggers, leftie bloggers, approvingly quoting Rove and Andy Card who practically accused us of sedition for daring to point out our president is a hapless sad sack, too incompetent to run a corner convenience store, much less a nation, without screwing it up.

This is the same old fight.. just on a different playground. The elite bellowed the same cries when the printing press became widely used. They protested when mass began being read in the languages other than latin.

You should be flattered to be quoted by them. You obviously touched a nerve.

When the shoe is on the other foot in 2008 (and a Democrat is president again), I wonder what Felix will have to say about the righty bloggers who bash the new prez. You know it will happen no matter how great and competent he/she is. For that matter, why isn't he bashing the bile they spout about Clinton, Kennedy, etc.?

Hypocrites.

I actually find it somewhat amusing to be lectured to by some kid who's probably about 22 years old and never worked a day in his life.

All part of the fun.

i bet rove has a better understanding of the internets than we'd be led to believe. i suppose its possible that he's completely unaware of how reliably his talking points are regurgitated and defended to the death. but i would actually think less of powerline, hewitt, and pajamaline in general if they went through all that trouble contorting their arguments backing up bush's Brilliant Plan Du Jour (to the point their objectivity's in worse shape than our country's image worldwide) if they weren't even invited to the occasional strategy session. most loyal pets get more favorable scraps from the dinner table than that. it would be even sadder somehow if they really acted independently, and ate their own bs.

I'm convinced Karl has figured out uses for the blogosphere Matty. I suspect he's been recruiting for some time. It's pretty obvious who can be bought.

Bile is when we do it, hard-hitting is when they do it.

Like, when we torture, it isn't torture, because we're doing it.

Or when Bush breaks the law, he isn't breaking the law, because whatever he does is lawful because he's the one doing it.
